ROBERT WIRTH
Pastoral Candidate
Robert grew up in northwest Alberta, on an acreage near the town of Valleyview. Around the age of ten, his eyes were opened to see his sinfulness, his guilt, and his desperate need to be saved from the wrath to come. At the same time, the gospel of God came home to his heart with power, and he was enabled to repent of his sins and trust in Jesus Christ for His great salvation. Since then, Robert has had many reasons to cry out with the apostle Paul, “O wretched man that I am,” in his conflict with indwelling sin. But by the saving grace of God, he is not the man that he once was; and he holds the true Christian's confidence that “He who has begun a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” He and his wife Sara have been married for five years and are blessed with two young boys. Robert desires to increasingly love and serve His Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and see many saved through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ. He is humbled and grateful to be an elder candidate under the care of Grace Fellowship Church.
*A pastoral candidate is a biblically qualified man, as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, who demonstrates the character, doctrine, and leadership expected of a shepherd. He is given the opportunity to serve the church in an expanded role, allowing his character and gifting to be observed. During this season, his readiness for the pastoral office is carefully tested before he is formally appointed to serve as an elder.
