ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

 

Admissions Philosophy

Grace Theological Institute exists to provide biblically sound and accessible theological training for the good of the church and the glory of God. Because theological education is not merely an academic pursuit, admission is based not only upon academic readiness but also upon evidence of Christian faith, godly character, and meaningful involvement in the local church.

The Institute reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant whose beliefs, conduct, or circumstances are determined to be inconsistent with the mission, doctrinal commitments, or educational objectives of the Institute.

General Admissions Requirements

All applicants seeking admission to any program of study must provide evidence of the following:

​

1. Repentance and Faith in Jesus Christ

Applicants must give credible evidence of repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ.

​

2. Growing Christian Maturity

Applicants should demonstrate a pattern of spiritual growth, Christian character, teachability, and a desire to live in submission to the authority of Scripture.

​

3. Local Church Membership and Involvement

Applicants must be members in good standing of a biblically faithful local church and actively involved in its worship, fellowship, discipleship, and ministry.

​

4. Ability to Benefit from Instruction

Applicants should possess sufficient reading, writing, and communication skills to engage successfully with the curriculum and complete assigned coursework.

5. Transfer Students: Official transcript(s) of credits sent to the Registrar directly by the Educational Institution(s) concerned.

Additional Requirements for Divinity Program

Applicants seeking admission to the Divinity program must also satisfy the following requirements:

​

1. Minimum Age Requirement

Applicants must be at least twenty (20) years of age at the time of admission.

​

2. Pastoral Reference Letter

Applicants must arrange for a pastoral reference letter to be submitted directly to Grace Theological Institute. The letter should address the applicant's Christian character, doctrinal soundness, church involvement, spiritual maturity, and perceived suitability for pastoral or ministry preparation. This should be emailed to: admissions@graceinstitute.ca

3. Demonstrated Ministry Interest and Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate a sincere aspiration to serve Christ and His church through ministry, whether in pastoral leadership, church planting, missions, or other forms of Christian ministry. Applicants should also meet the character qualifications for eldership as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, or demonstrate clear and credible growth toward these qualifications in their Christian life and conduct.

4. Mentor Identification

Prior to enrollment, applicants may be required to identify a pastor/elder or approved church leader who is willing to provide spiritual encouragement, accountability, and mentorship throughout the student's studies.

5. Admissions Interview

Prior to admission, applicants must complete an admissions interview (in-person/video).

Local and distance students are welcome to audit individual classes as space allows. To inquire about auditing a class, please contact us by email.

HIGH SCHOOL  BRIDGING PROGRAM

​

1. Purpose

The High School Bridging Program at Grace Theological Institute is designed to provide academically capable and spiritually mature high school students with limited access to post-secondary theological studies while they complete their secondary education. This program seeks to encourage gifted students toward deeper theological formation without compromising their academic or developmental responsibilities in high school.

​

2. Eligibility Requirements

Applicants to the High School Bridging Program must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Completion of Grade 10 education (or equivalent).

• Demonstrated evidence of Christian conversion.

• Evidence of mature Christian character, including consistent moral conduct and growing spiritual maturity.

• Active membership and participation in a faithful local church, with pastoral affirmation recommended.

• Approval from both the student’s parents/guardians and the Institute’s Admissions Office.

3. Academic Limitations and Enrolment Load

Students admitted into the High School Bridging Program may:

• Enroll in up to 60% of any certificate or degree diploma, with the exception of the Divinity program.

• The Divinity program is not available for High School Bridging enrolment under standard conditions due to its advanced pastoral formation requirements.

• Students must remain in good academic standing and demonstrate the ability to manage both secondary and post-secondary academic responsibilities without detriment to either.
